Using Template Company to Setup Branch Company

Intercompany solution allows the user to optionally setup template for a branch company in administration console. 
All masters’ data are replicated to Template Company similar to Branch(es) and Head Office Company.
With the help of branch Template Company, user can easily initialize a new branch company in the intercompany landscape. This significantly reduces the time in deploying a new company in the intercompany solution.

To use the template type company to set up the new branch company, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a new SAP Business One Company and perform the initial setup’s similar to  the other companies.
    1. If you want to configure the template company in your already running landscape, then you must manually ensure that all master data which are replicated by the  intercompany integration solution have an equal number of records in each branch and template company (that is, identical records exits in each company)
    2. You must ensure that there should not be any transactions in the template company.
  1. Install the  integration solutions add-on in the template SAP Business One company
  2. In the Intercompany Administration Console, On the  Intercompany Landscape page, On  Company Details page, while defining the  Company Type for the template company, select the option “ Template ” for Template Company.
  3. On  Company Details page, select an operation type for the template company from the following options:  Sales, Service , or  Sales and Service . Based on operation type - Contract templates, customer equipment card, and service contracts will replicate to template companies
  4. On  Company Details page, choose a company template for the template company. Based on company template the master’s and their properties definition will replicate to Template Company.
  5. Deploy the solution by choosing the Deploy button.
  6. After deployment perform the  keymapping for Template Company along with other branch companies.
  7. The template company is now configured in the landscape. The solution will start replicating the masters similar to other branch companies configured in the landscape.
Note

    1. Master data will always be replicated to the template company based on data distribution template and company template assigned to Template Company.
    2. The SAP Business One transactions and Intercompany transactions are not be allowed in the template company.

The Template Company will not appear in the Intercompany reports.

    1. The template company will be used only for master data replication and not for financial transactions.

  1. Whenever you want to add a new company in the intercompany landscape, take the backup of the template company and restore it with new company name and perform the setups as mentioned in  Introducing New Branch Companies knowledge article.
There is no limitation in creation of Template Company. User can create as many companies as required.
