Configuration in SAP ECC to connect with SAP Integration Framework 2 0

In SAP ECC check whether there is a client and RFC destination available for the client you want to use for the connection to SAP Integration Framework 2.0. Create a logical system and an RFC destination for SAP Integration Framework 2.0 in SAP ECC.

The configuration steps definition is based on SAP ECC releases. Steps may vary in other releases. If your system is based on other releases, refer to the documentation in SAP Help Portal (help.sap.com).

Prerequisites

    1. SAP ECC is running the headquarters.
    2. The client you want to use in SAP ECC has been defined as a logical system and the logical system has been assigned to the client.
    3. The RFC destination for the SAP ECC client is available. 
    4. You have the necessary authorizations to create logical systems and RFC destinations in SAP ECC.

Checking the Logical System for the SAP ECC Client

A logical system that represents your SAP ECC client must be available in SAP ECC.

In a technically configured SAP ECC, this client is already available. Check the logical system entry, and note down the information. You will need it later when you set up connectivity in SAP Integration Framework 2.0.

Procedure

  1. To check the entry for the logical system in SAP ECC, call the SALE transaction.
  2. Select IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)  Basic Settings  Logical Systems  Assign Logical System to Client.

The system displays a warning that settings in the table are cross-client relevant.

  1. In the Change View “Clients” Overview window, select the relevant client entry from the client overview table.
  2. To display details, choose the Details button.
  3. Write down the entry in the Logical system field.

Do not change any settings.

Checking RFC Destination and Port Definition for SAP ECC Client

An RFC destination and a port assigned to the RFC destination must be available for the client you want to use in SAP ECC.

In a technically configured SAP ECC system, the RFC connection entry, as well as the assignment to a system port, is already there. To ensure the setup works well, follow the procedure in this section.

If the RFC destination and the system port assignment are not yet available, refer to the SAP ECC standard documentation to set up the entries.

Procedure

  1. To check the RFC destination entry, call the SALE transaction.
  2. Select IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)  Communication  Create RFC Connections.

Alternatively, call the SM59 transaction.

  1. In the RFC Connections window, expand the ABAP Connections tree.
  2. Check whether there is an entry available for your SAP ECC client.

Identify the entry for the SAP ECC client following the SAP naming convention for setting up RFC destinations:

<systemID>CLNT<client number>, for example: EH3CLNT100

  1. To check which port has been assigned to the RFC destination, call the WE21 transaction. 
  2. In the Ports in IDoc processing list in the Transactional RFC section, search for the Description entry of the logical system and write down the port number.

Defining a Logical System for SAP Integration Framework 2.0

  1. To create a logical system in SAP ECC, call the SALE transaction.
  2. Choose IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)  Basic Settings  Logical Systems  Define Logical System and choose Enter.

The system displays a warning that settings in the table are cross-client relevant.

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. In the New Entries: Overview of Added Entries window, in the Log. System field enter the unique key for the B1if server, for example B1I176550A.

We recommend using a naming convention corresponding to the logical systems set up for your SAP ECC system. Use the B1I prefix and add the system number to identify the integration server instance. 

  1. In the Name field, enter a description of the logical system, for example B1if on WDFN00176550A.
  2. To save your entries, choose Save

Defining the RFC Destination for SAP Integration Framework 2.0

To enable RFC communication between SAP ECC and SAP Integration Framework 2.0, define an RFC destination in SAP ECC that points to SAP Integration Framework 2.0.

Procedure

  1. In SAP ECC call the SALE transaction. 
  2. Choose IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE)  Communication  Create RFC Connections.

Alternatively, call the SM59 transaction.

  1. Choose the Create button and in the RFC Destination window, do the following:
  1. In the RFC Destination field, enter the unique key for the RFC destination, for example B1I176550A.
    1. Use capital letters only.
    2. Use the same name for the RFC destination as for the logical system name that represents your SAP Integration Framework 2.0 server, for example B1I176550A.
        2. In the  Connection Type field, select T (start external program using TCP/IP).
      3. In the  Description field, enter a short text for the RFC destination.
      4. Confirm your entries with  ENTER.
  1. Choose the Technical Settings tab.
    1. To enable communication using a registered server program, select the Registered Server Program button.
    2. This entry is necessary only for the RFCP connection.
    3. In the Program ID field enter the unique value for the program ID, for example B1I176550A.

This entry is necessary only for the RFCP connection. The server program with this ID is set up and running on the SAP Integration Framework 2.0 server for the RFC call.

  1. Choose the Unicode tab. and in the Communication Type with Target System area, select the Non-Unicode or Unicode radio button, in accordance with your SAP ECC system setup options and save your settings.

You can check the Unicode-related setup of your SAP ECC system selecting System  Status… in the SAP System Data section in the Unicode System field.
